Catch Me If You Can!!!

Our little runner....Alex is a difficult guy to keep up with these days. He is constantly on the move wherever we go.

Getting ready for the holidays

The three of us went to Kendall-Jackson Winery for our holiday photo session. Our photographer, Ashley, was great with kids and patiently waited for Alex's best moments. We ended up with about 100 shots and chose this one and another for our Christmas card. It's hard to believe Alex is already 20 months old and will be celebrating his second Christmas. This year he is very aware of all the decorations, the concept of Santa Claus, the Christmas tree, and of course presents! He still, however, is more excited about the gift wrap than the actual present...but we imagine that will be a lot different next year.

We will be meeting Santa at the Bel Marin Keys Yacht Club in Oma and Opa's neighborhood in a couple of weeks. Alex will be amazed to see Santa pulling up in a speed boat to deliver treats to all the kids...we'll be impressed too!

These days Alex is running all over the place. He has never-ending energy and is curious about everything. He tries to balance on everything imaginable, so we think he will be a good surfer later in life. He loves to "read" all of his books (over and over again) and points out all the animals. His toys get a daily workout and he's great at helping Mommy and Daddy with cleaning and other chores around the house.

We can't believe what a personality Alex has! He sees the fun in everything and has the best sense of humor. He is also such an affectionate little guy...he gives out hugs and kisses regularly, even to the little girls in stores who might not be so interested in a hug or kiss. Luckily, our golden retriever appreciates the gentle hugs Alex gives him at least once or twice per day.

Happy, happy 1st birthday, sweet Alex! It has been so long since we have posted here...hmmmm, someone has been keeping us very busy! You have changed so much lately and are becoming more of a toddler and less of a baby. You started to walk a couple months ago, but lately prefer to crawl and climb (and kick off your shoes). You have such a personality, and your expressions are changing all the time and you become more and more active and animated. We hope we will be able to keep up with you...you are pretty fast and love to explore!

Your birthday party was lots of fun. You loved spending your birthday with Oma and Opa, Gramma, Uncle Bob, Mommy, Daddy, and Tommy. You didn't really make a mess of the birthday cake, so the pictures we got were of a pretty clean face (maybe next year!). You LOVED your balloons, after seeing them week after week in Safeway...you still seem surprised when you see them in our house. You love the "Happy Birthday" song, so much that we have to sing it every day to keep you happy...anything to see that cute toothy smile.

Your favorite activities these days are reading books, going to the library's story hour two or three times a week, play dates with babies your age, playing with your toys, jogging or walking around the neighborhood daily, car trips to our various places (mainly the grocery stores). You love going outside to see Daddy's garden (which was just set up)...we'll be putting the seedlings outside in a week or two. You love getting the mail, talking on the mobile phone, and love using the laptop (which is why we got you your own for your bday). You also love going to the park, where your favorite feature is the swing....you giggle and laugh and swing your legs like an acrobat. You also love the sandbox at the park (reminds you of Kauai, we guess)...we'll have to get a little one for our backyard this spring/summer.

We love watching you grow and change, and will surely be amazed by the changes we see in the next year. We hope we will be able to post more pics regularly and keep this blog better updated this year.
Happy birthday, Sweet Baby!

Happy 1st Birthday!!!

We're on Kauai and Alex is almost 10 months old!

I can't believe how long it's been since I made an entry in this blog and update the pics. We have been sooo very busy with Alex...any "free" time is spent doing laundry or cleaning the house. It seems we are constantly on the go keeping Alex busy so he stays happy and grows. We are currently on the island of Kauai for 16 days with Oma and Opa. We spent the first week on the north shore (Princeville) and are now on the south shore (Poipu) for the second week. Alex has been crawling like crazy in the sand, swimming in the pools and baby beaches, cruising along all the furniture in our condos, and standing for up to 30 seconds at a time, unassisted. Walking is just around the corner for him...he may even take his first steps while on Kauai. He is so very healthy and has been eating better than ever, with lots of avocado, papaya, apricots, sweet potatoes, carrots, YoBaby yogurt, oatmeal, tofu, and lots of local fruits and veggies. He only has two teeth still, but the others are working their way in...we know because of the teething pain. He is having a wonderful time building memories with Oma and Opa...he giggles and cuddles with them all the time and everybody gets a kick out of it. He has been doing great during our almost daily car trips, checking out all of Kauai's hotspots. We are loving this age and looking forward to all the milestones on the horizon for our baby boy.
